If you are not taking conventional lessons to learn country guitar, you are not alone. Lessons can be costly, and for a beginner perhaps not necessary until you find a real feel for the instrument.

Any instrument is difficult at first, and it is easy to become discouraged before you have given it a real chance. Not everyone is born with a talent to play by ear, and those who do wish they could read sheet music. Which one are you?

Do You Fit Your Guitar?

It is important to choose the right size instrument according to hand size and length of your fingers. If you cannot reach the strings comfortably, the neck is too large. Find one that fits and half the battle is won.

Choose Your Country Style

If you want to learn country guitar, most likely you have a preference for which style of country music you enjoy the most. This should be what you focus on. Choose songs you listen to constantly and focus on the rhythm and chords.

When playing by ear, choose songs with the least amount of chords and chord changes. Slow songs are the best to learn from. Those with basic strumming will allow you to learn the chords easier.

Check The Internet For Videos

There are various tutorials at your disposal on the web. There you will find videos of musicians playing which will give you some hands- on to learn country guitar. YouTube is full of informative videos.

Practice Every Day

Practice does make perfect, and if you want to build up those finger muscles and calluses, set aside at least an hour every day to practice chords and technique. Get together with friends who play and these sessions will not only help you learn country guitar, but will have you jamming in no time!
